Investing in Tomorrow’s Production – Today

At Metal Powder Group’s production site in Hagfors, Sweden, a significant investment has just been completed. A new cone crusher is now in place – and with it comes a meaningful step forward in how we produce high carbon ferrochrome powders and other ferro alloys.

The decision wasn’t just about replacing worn-out equipment, though that was certainly overdue. It was about making a smarter choice for the long term. Switching from a jaw crusher to a cone crusher changes the fundamentals of the crushing process: the new machine delivers a far more uniform particle size distribution, which means material flows more efficiently into the next stage of production – with less energy, less wear on critical components, and better consistency in the final product.

Maintain Consistent Quality

“We’re not just replacing old equipment – we’re changing the way we work,” says Magnus Nilsson, Production Manager in Ekshärad. “The new system improves both our efficiency and our ability to maintain consistent quality, while also reducing our energy consumption. That combination is exactly what we need to stay competitive.”

The investment also opens new possibilities. The compact design of the new system frees up space in a factory where every square meter counts, and the faster product changeover time makes it feasible to process a wider range of materials than before.

Supported by Region Värmland and the EU

The project and investment has been carried out with support from Region Värmland and is co-funded by the European Union. It’s a part of Metal Powder Group’s continued commitment to a sustainable, high-quality production.
